交差する抽象と具象

抽象的な体験を絵画で表現するクレイグ・シャノン。精神と物質の統合を試みる陶芸家・島田篤の作品は、抽象と具象を行き来している。今展は、内面にある本質的な形を異なる手段で表現する二人による作品展である。

 Intersecting Abstraction and Figuration

Craig Shannon who creates abstract experiences in his paintings. A ceramic artist, Atsushi Shimada’s work which attempts to integrate the spiritual and the material, moves between the abstract and the figurative. This exhibition features works by these two artists who use different means to express the essential forms of the inner world.

長野県小諸市在住のクレッグ・シャノンさんの絵画と、佐久市在住の島田篤さんの立体作品を展示します。クレッグさんは抽象的な体験を絵画で表現し、島田さんの陶芸による立体作品は抽象と具象を行き来していますが、それぞれ内面にある本質的な形を異なる手段で表現しています。今展はそのお二人の作品を展示することで、通常理解されにくい抽象作品を自由に鑑賞することを提案します。
